Where Art & Fashion Converge!

The Slow Fashion Maker Market, co-presented with Slow Fashion Festival, took over the Moody Rooftop at The Contemporary Austin for an afternoon of community, creativity, and sustainable fashion.

The event was held in collaboration with the museum’s exhibition HOST: Tenant of Culture, which focused on waste in the fashion industry and rethinking the life cycle of clothing.

Meet the Makers

We invited some of the most exciting and intentional designers in town to showcase their work. Guests shopped one-of-a-kind pieces, met the makers, and sipped complimentary spirited and non-alcoholic drinks while taking in the rooftop views. Event tickets included access to the full museum, including Tenant of Culture by Dutch artist Hendrickje Schimmel, who deconstructs and reassembles garments into sculptural works that challenge the norms of consumption and production.

This event wasn’t just about shopping. It was about creating space for independent designers who are doing things differently. Slow fashion deserves the spotlight, and we believe in lifting up creatives who are building thoughtful, ethical, and low-waste practices into their work. By giving these artists a platform, we’re showing our community that fashion can be both stylish and sustainable.

Charm Necklace Workshop

with Goodwill

At the Slow Fashion Maker Market, the Charm Necklace Workshop, hosted in partnership with Goodwill Central Texas, invited guests to rethink waste in a playful, hands-on way.

Anyone who brought a bag of clothing donations, big or small, was welcomed to the rooftop activation to craft a one-of-a-kind charm necklace.
